Invitation to International Co-ordination Meeting of Youth Organisations (ICMYO) and Civil Society Development Forum, 27-30 June 2007

We are delighted to announce that the fourth meeting of ICMYO (the International Coordination Meeting of Youth Organisations) will take place on 27- 30 June 2007 in Geneva. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the Civil Society Forum organised by CONGO (Conference of NGOs) Geneva, and we hope very much that your organisation will be present.

As you know, ICMYO is an informal network of 27 membership-based International Youth NGOs and Regional Youth Platforms. The main objectives of ICMYO are the strengthening of cooperation among youth organisations at the regional and global levels and the coordination of political inputs to global youth policy processes. Since its inception in 2004, ICMYO has gained international credibility with UN agencies, the World Bank, and other international institutions; and its successes have included ensuring youth voices are heard in high level policy frameworks such as the World Development Report 2007 and the World Programme of Action for Youth.
The meeting in June will be a timely opportunity for youth organisations to come together, share expertise and plan for the future. It will provide a chance to reflect on how we can benefit from each others experiences and expertise, and how we can be even better at influencing global youth processes.

The meeting will take place in conjunction with the Civil Society Development Forum which is being held in Geneva on 27-30 June. This gives ICMYO members the opportunity to meet with hundreds of NGOs and to be part of the NGO voice at the up-coming ECOSOC High Level Segment, as well as to make recommendations for ECOSOC’s annual ministerial review.

Please find attached more information about ICMYO, a draft agenda, a registration form and a background paper for the Civil Society Development Forum, and we kindly ask that you inform Jenny Aris of your attendance by 26 May on jenny@ymca.int. Since the meeting will discuss principles and strategies for cooperation on global and regional levels we encourage the high level leadership of your organisation to attend.

If you have financial difficulties in attending or need help with accommodation please let us know.

We look forward to seeing you in Geneva.
